“Who will survive and what will be left of them?”

Continuing in the horror month with Leatherface. I bought the remake The Texas Chainsaw Massacre from 2003 on DVD right after its release unseen and I really liked it, I think it’s great and densely staged. I only knew the original from hearsay, in Germany there was no official way to see it. I made up for this 10 years later and unfortunately I found him unwatchable. I don’t remember exactly what it was, but I think I found him just insanely exhausting and weird and in any case badly aged. An older generation probably sees it differently and so for the first time I felt a remake as a meaningful, contemporary new production.

Sure, Leatherface had to go into my collection. The figure is from Studio Miniatures and comes in a set with Leatherface from the second original movie with suit and chainsaw. I haven’t seen the second movie and plan to rebuild the second figure at some point, it’s not being painted right now.

Leatherface was supposed to look dirty, which I think worked out pretty fine. A worthy appearance in my Horror Icons series.
