“If you make yourself more than just a man, if you devote yourself to an ideal and if they can’t stop you, you become something else entirely – legend, Mr Wayne.”
As it is #batmanday I wanted to paint something at least related to the Dark Knight – maybe a villain? I started painting miniatures from the Nolan trilogy a couple of weeks ago and wanted to continue there. Therefore I picked Henry Ducard aka Ra’s Al Ghul from Batman Begins. The miniature is from Knight Models and it came with three assassins of the league of shadows. Unfortunately there was a lot of cleaning to be done and the face has a big miscast. I didn’t realise it before painting, so Ra’s now has a big scar in his face 😕 I think there is something wrong with his dagger/sword as well, it looks too thin. Anyway, besides those points I’m all in all happy with how he turned out. And I got some Batman stuff done on Batman Day 😎
To celebrate the Batman Day a bit more I also took one of my favorite stories out of the shelf: “The mask” by Brian Talbot, released 1992 in the series Legends of the Dark Knight. I like it especially for it’s very serious, psychological take on the Dark Knight – no wonder that it won two Eisner Awards. In Germany we are lucky enough, that Panini Comics releases a lot of Batman stuff and the current runs in German. Although I usually read in English, I simply had to buy this issue when they released it for the first time translated. Have a good day, all you caped crusaders out there!
